You are absolutely right but cost savings is some times more important when your test environments are almost disposable and minutes or hours of downtime is not an issue. That said, I wrote this before Digital Ocean launched their managed k8s service which the infrastructure itself I believe is free. This could potentially mean that we can have both cost savings and redundancy. I have to dig deeper into it to confirm though.
