It’s a blessing to be in tech

During the COVID-19 Pandemic

I like to have the news from multiple countries running on one of my monitors while I am working for at least a couple of hours a day. Of course, just like you, I have noticed all the sad news caused by COVID-19 on a daily basis. If it’s not about how so-and-so’s event caused an explosive amount of confirmed cases, it’s about amazing public figures developing mental illnesses due to social distancing and lock downs. All this is derived from the fact that a majority of human beings are social animals. We simply can’t withstand life without human interaction and don’t know what to do with our time while confined at home for prolonged periods of time.

Also I have noticed that some of the elderly folks around me that are tech-averse seems to have a much tougher time coping with the pandemic as they are now confined at home with no other way to communicate with others besides phone calls and maybe some text/whatsapp messages here and there. Things like Zoom happy hours and grocery shopping with Instacart is simply just out of the question for them. Some times it’s not even being anti-technology but more so the fact that using these technology driven services are just often times overwhelming to them.
