COVID-19 Global Cases & Statistics
English only version that separates Hong Kong & Macau from China
Those of you who are closely following the COVID-19 global cases are probably aware of the Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) which provides us with a visually pleasing dashboard covering COVID-19 stats around the world:
However, some time within the past 30 days, stats for Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan were merged into China. This was brought up by ShawTim Liu and a number of other folks in the opensource community who felt strongly about this being an incorrect merge.
Note: Taiwan was eventually displayed as a separate region again after some discussion and fixes but Hong Kong and Macau remain merged into China.
While I don’t necessarily condone the questionably abrasive reactions from some of these folks, I think they bring up a pretty important point that there are merits to keeping these regions separate from China in terms of generating useful statistics for travelers and the general public that are interested in these regions separately…
